Help Launch the CCK Museum
“Calling all Kung Kuan Air Base, Ching Chuan Kang Air Base (CCK) and Taichung Veterans” The Wing Commander, CCK Air Base, in celebration of the Base’s 50th Anniversary, has asked for help from American Veterans who served on the base and in the Taichung area. The American Commander’s Headquarters building, used during our time at CCK, is being converted into a “Museum.” The new Museum is in need of most anything that our veterans might have that reflects on things and occasions of the American presence at Kung Kuan and CCK as well as MAAG Taiwan in the Taichung area. To help our friends at CCK establish a wonderful museum reflecting the history and the American presence on the base, they have asked that you look through your old memorabilia of your Taiwan times and contribute some memento, piece, photographs, whatever you see fit. Each item will be identified with information such as: Donated by: John Doe of Lincoln, Nebraska. Details of the time period pertaining to the item Description of the item, e.g. Old Enlisted Barracks All donations are needed, none too small or too large. Let’s remember our time in Taiwan, by returning something back to the people of Taiwan in gratitude and thankfulness for standing tall and firm for freedom and helping the United States in our efforts throughout Asia. This is a wonderful opportunity for each of us to leave something behind in remembrance of our time in Taiwan. Those things you cherish today will be set aside by your heirs when you pass, why not share and contribute something to the CCK Museum, where it will seen and reflect on the contributions of the American military presence in the area. Our years are few in this late time in our lives. Please consider passing on a piece of your treasure to the CCK Museum; it will stand long after each of us is gone. The future airmen and citizens of Taiwan will see the many contributions the American military made to their nation’s freedom, reflected through the treasured items contributed by us. If you have questions or concerns, or can donate, please e-mail Gene Hirte at nantougene@gmail.com Possible visits can be arranged for expatriates of CCK Air Base. If you have plans to visit Taiwan please e-mail Gene Hirte as far in advance as possible, as he may be able to arrange a visit to the “old stomping grounds.” God Bless each of you.
